Sample text:
Distractions can be anything from negative thoughts to mindlessly scrolling through social media. But distractions don’t just take away our focus – they can also cause us to lose sight of the most important things in life.
Whether thinking about a problem, completing an assignment, or facing a difficult decision, we sometimes choose to distract ourselves as a form of procrastination or escape from reality. We often engage in these activities because they are enjoyable and help us relax, yet another purpose behind our intentional distractions is to avoid doing something else.
The Bible tells us: “but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” – Mark 4:19
That’s why it’s so important to be mindful of distractions and try to set up ways to avoid them proactively. For example, if you know that checking your phone will distract you during an essential task, turn off notifications or keep your phone silent.
